I say bring on summer. Today I wore shorts so in celebration here is a little something I penned one summer as a lifeguard in southern California. If you have every been a lifeguard you know what I am talking about...
Whistle stops and belly flops,
Sunburn on my neck.
Horse fly bites,
And water fights
Throw-up on the deck.
I'm a lifeguard.
Walk, please.
Splash with ease.
Don't hang on the rope
Passive, active. Passing out
Kids think I am dope.
I'm a lifeguard.
CPR, check his pulse
Adjust and breathe again
Puncture wounds, splintered bones
